Women Empowerment & Gender Development

KNUS is a gender sensitive organization as it has been formed by charismatic & dynamic woman Ms. Latifa Yasmin Lovely who is leading the organization as Founder Executive Director. The Executive Director observed from her childhood that the women are seriously deprived from the society, as they have limited rights, entitlements, suffering from domestic violence, eve teasing, outgoing, have no decisions making ability and neglected by the family. She thought that this the serious discrimination by the men as well as the men ruling society. As per Islamic law, the men & women are equal in terms of all sectors of life. Since then, with a view to remove these sorts of gender discrimination, she thought to work for the establishment of the women’s rights, their entitlements and empowerment. As part of her vision, restless laborious thinking, she formed women’s CBO groups at Katnarpara under Bogura urban municipality that gradually turn into an organization Katnarpara Nari Unnayan Sangstha (KNUS) in 2007. The organization has appropriate women/ gender policy & documentations that carry out by all staff of the KNUS. The organization has arranged training for all staff on women empowerment gender related issue i.e gender equity, equality & diversity, KNUS staffs regular facilitates motivation/awareness raising discussions with the beneficiaries as well as stakeholders in weekly group meetings including conducts special gender session, seminar and workshop as well. The organization also organized the gender sessions with the government officials, public representatives and by the participation of men/women in different levels.
